Autumn leaves at Engakuji temple

Engakuji temple in Kamakura that was built in 1282.
It is one of the popular place in Kamakura for viewing beautiful autumn foliage.
The best time to see is between the end of November and beginning of December.
Kamakura is a city in Kanagawa Prefecture,once it was a political capital along with Nara and Kyoto.
It makes an easy day trip from Tokyo.

Somon gate.
An entrance of this temple is beautifully decorated with colorful leaves in fall.
Admission fee is required to enter this temple, but you can take pictures at here for free, because it is outside the temple ground.

If you look back on top of the stairs in front of Somon gate, you can see the train is passing by.
This view is a hidden photo spot.
I got on the right side and took a picture with 2 times zoom by iPhone.

They provide zen meditation introductory course for beginners at every Saturday from 13:20 to 14:20 in here.
I considered the size of a building and autumn leaves then took this picture with 1.3 times zoom by iPhone in front of the building.

You don’t need a reservation to participate the zen meditation course, but it is better to arrive early, as people often makes a long queue like this.

This is one of the most popular photo spot in the temple ground.
So many people took a picture in many places around the shore.

I chose the place in the yellow circle.
I stood straddling the ditch and took a picture with 2 times zoom by iPhone.
A leading part is autumn leaves on the left and supporting role is a building on the right side.

It is a teahouse where visitors can enjoy a cup of tea, amazake (sweet sake) or Japanese sweets in the Japanese style garden

Compared to other temples, this temple is vertically long.
So you’ll need more time to see all of the buildings.
