Yanagidani Kannon Yokokuji Temple in Kyoto city.
This is a Chozuya filled with mainly colorful hydrangeas.
They say that it is inspired by the image of a Buddhist flag fluttering in the sky.
Chozuya is a place for ritual cleansing of hands and mouth water when visiting shrines.
Usually it isn’t decorated with flowers.
But they started to put flowers in it a few years ago, then it became very popular and spread through social media.
Since then, many other shrines all across Japan also have started to do the same thing.
